CHASE NEW HOMES SCOOPS SILVER WHATHOUSE? AWARD FOR LEA WHARF

Lea Wharf development by Chase New Homes has taken the 2024 Silver What House? Award for Best Apartment Scheme. The news was met with joyous celebration by the Chase New Homes team when actor James Nesbitt presented the award at the What House? Awards ceremony in London on 15th November.

Now in their 44th year, the What House? Awards are recognised as some of the most prestigious accolades in the British housebuilding industry. The 2024 awards, powered by myenergi, were presented in front of a glittering gala lunch at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, in front of 1,300 industry professionals.

Lea Wharf took silver in the Best Apartment Scheme category in recognition of its inspired design, which honours Hertford’s riverside heritage while breathing new life into the fabric of the town. The mixed-use development is creating a new destination in which to live, dine, shop and relax, drawing the local community to the riverside with its dynamic sense of place.

The award-winning scheme includes 98 high-specification one- and two-bedroom riverside apartments, along with a large NHS medical hub and upgrades to Hertford’s town centre bus station and multi-story car park. The beautifully designed homes pair visual appeal with keen attention to detail, creating an impressive sense of space, light and sophistication.

The What House? Award follows hot on the heels of Lea Wharf’s success at the 2024 Housebuilder Awards, where the development was ‘Highly Commended’ in the ‘Best Design of Four Storeys or More’ category.

Paul Bennett, Sales and Marketing Director at Chase New Homes, comments: “We are thrilled that the outstanding homes at Lea Wharf have been recognised with a coveted What House? Award. With five storeys of highly desirable homes to buy and rent, along with an outstanding new retail and leisure quarter occupied by big-name brands on the ground floor, Lea Wharf is a truly exceptional apartment scheme that brings something new and exciting to Hertford town centre. We are honoured by What House’s recognition of that.”

Located on the banks of the River Lea, Lea Wharf blends beautifully into the neighbourhood’s historic riverside architecture. Inspired by traditional docklands warehouses, the buildings feature recessed balconies and glorious arched, black-framed aluminium windows across their attractive light brick exterior. The metal ‘sky bridge’ between the blocks, black dock doors and winches all pay homage to the area’s history, delivering a development that at once speaks to the local community and provides superb, contemporary homes.
