FAMILY MAKES A SMART MOVE TO SCHOLARS IN BROXBOURNE

Long admired for hosting the perfect balance of green space, excellent local amenities and outstanding schools against proximity to London, Hertfordshire has become a hotly desired area amongst buyers seeking homes in top commuter locations. One Hertfordshire town that is hitting the sweet spot for homebuyers is Broxbourne, where Suzanne and Paul Nash found their perfect family home at Scholars by Chase New Homes. Enjoying a superb setting, close to their children’s schools and less than 30 minutes from the capital – Suzanne, Paul and their two children are thoroughly enjoying family life living in their stunning new five-bedroom home.

Having lived in Broxbourne for a number of years, Suzanne (37) and Paul (40) talk about their decision to buy a home at Scholars: “We were living in a detached five-bedroom house just the other side of Broxbourne School, we could actually see Scholars coming up out of the ground from our old house. Initially we had considered moving out a little further, however on reflection we soon realised Broxbourne offers everything our family needs. Katie (14) and Freddie (5) are both settled at The Broxbourne School and Broxbourne CofE Primary School, our parents live in nearby Goffs Oak and there are really easy travel links into London and Cambridge, which is ideal on days when we both need to go into the office. From a location point of view, it just works for us, plus we already know the area and like living here – it’s a great place for families.”

A Senior Brand Strategist, Suzanne continues: “Our old house was a five-bedroom, five-bathroom property. Set across three floors; it felt too ‘top heavy’ and although downstairs was spacious the layout just didn’t quite work for us as a family. We could have spent money trying to make the house work better, but it would have meant long-term renovation work and in the end we realised it still wouldn’t give us the home we wanted. We had been looking on Rightmove and the Scholars development was one that kept coming up – we decided to view and once we both saw the show home, we loved it!”

Product Support Lead Consultant for a technology company, Paul explains more about how their new home benefits family life: “Chase New Homes have really given thought to the overall design, specification and layout. As a family home it needs to work for everyone. Suzanne and I both work from home a lot so we needed an office space, and we also wanted somewhere where we could spend time together as a family, as well as space for us all to have privacy – Scholars ticks every box.”

Suzanne continues: “It’s a great layout and we don’t ever feel like we are on top of one another. The kitchen/diner is a really good size and means the children can sit and chat to us while I’m cooking dinner and they’re doing their homework – it has given us somewhere we can spend more quality time together. The separate lounge downstairs gives Paul and I somewhere to relax and unwind in the evenings, and with our bedroom at the top of the house, as the children get older and want to invite their friends over, we have somewhere to retreat to. The office is big enough to have a sofa bed in so that also works perfectly as a guest room.”

“Katie and Freddie love the garden! It’s bigger than our old one and there is a huge Oak tree which they are planning to hang a big swing on, they both really enjoy time out there together. There is such a lovely mix of families living here too, Katie walks to school with some of the other children, it’s nice that we have joined a close-knit community. Friends of ours have also just moved here and there is another couple we know from the school who are moving in April – so it’s certainly a popular choice!”

Talking more about the features and specification of their new home, Suzanne comments: “We purchased the show home at Scholars – we were so impressed with the high-quality and attention to detail throughout. As part of the purchase the beautiful light fittings, bespoke blinds and made-to-measure curtains and window seat in the living room were all included. The exterior of the house has been cleverly designed with character touches; from the beautiful cornicing and Amtico flooring, a big plus point, down to the small things like using bricks for the driveway rather than tarmac and neat planted areas to the front. We have an integral garage and a separate utility room; it’s such a useful space to have and allows me to keep the kitchen clutter-free – I wouldn’t be without it now. Careful thought has been given everything.”

Talking more about the local area and green spaces close to their new home, Suzanne and Paul say: “We are very lucky to have lots of green space and parks so close by. Broxbourne Sports Club is a 10-minute walk away and always has lots of clubs and events going on, and we have a big open green space that sits just behind the development, which we will soon have direct access to. Broxbourne Woods and sculpture trail is a short drive away and we are also members of Paradise Wildlife Park – great for the kids to burn off some energy for a couple of hours after school. Nearby Hoddesdon is a nice place to visit for a meal out. If we want to go into London, we can get to Westfield at Stratford in about half an hour on the train.”

Sharing their thoughts about Chase New Homes and the sales team, Suzanne and Paul comment: “We have been really impressed with the whole team at Chase New Homes. They have looked after us and kept us informed every step of the way – it’s the best customer service we have received from any developer.”
